Private Jet Travel – What is Category and Type?

Flying in the luxurious world of private jet travel is quite a bit different than flying on a commercial airline.  When it comes to booking a jet for your specific travel needs, you have choices to personalize your trip.  After all, the luxury of private jet travel is about traveling on your time, your schedule, and with accommodations for your passengers and their onboard needs.  With this in mind, private jets are grouped by category, or size of jet.  At Delta Private Jets, we have four categories of jet sizes:

  1. Light Jet – typically up to 6 passengers
  2. Midsize Jet – typically up to 7 passengers
  3. Super Midsize Jet – typically up to 8 passengers
  4. Large Jet – typically up to 9 passengers, but can go as high as 14 passengers

The category, or size of jet, chosen for a typical charter trip is based on number of passengers, amount of luggage, distance of trip, interior plane specification needs, and budget.  All of these factors are taken into account when booking a private jet for business or pleasure travel.

Type of aircraft refers to a jet from a specific manufacturer and its make and model, with each type falling into a category, or size of jet.  At Delta Private Jets, we currently have the following aircraft types:
