Delta Private Jets – Giving Back to Our Community

Service is one of Delta Private Jets’ core values, and we carry that with us in everything we do. Our employees work constantly to ensure our customers receive the best service, and Delta Private Jets makes it a priority to serve the community, as well. Each year, we strive to be a good corporate citizen in our home town community of Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, as well as other communities nationally and have continuously escalated our efforts in the last three years.

In 2016, we set a goal to donate $10K through participation in various community service projects, partnering with the American Cancer Society, GO Pantry and a local elementary school, Kelly Elementary. Through these projects, we were able to expand our community service efforts and even exceeded our goal of donating $10K to the community.

Our parent company, Delta Air Lines, Inc., heavily supports the American Cancer Society. Each year, they raise money for the organization (their goal for 2017 is $2.25M!), and Delta Private Jets is proud to contribute to their efforts. In 2016, we exceeded our goal, raising more than $5K through various fundraising events. As a Relay for Life Team Captain, it was inspiring to see our employees so engaged in the fight against cancer. All of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another, so it is a cause that is close to home and one we are proud to support. We centered our fundraisers on some of the events we were already having, and mixed in a few others, as well. At our biggest fundraising event, our executives and directors washed employees’ cars and made everyone lunch. We work hard at Delta Private Jets, so it’s always nice to take a little break and enjoy each other’s company. When we can do that while also raising money for a great cause, it’s even better.

In 2015, we started working with a local elementary school, Kelly Elementary, to adopt a family at Christmastime. We receive a small wish list of toys for each child in the family, and a few clothing items they are in need of, as well. For the past two years, our employees have gone above and beyond in generosity for this community service project. We have not only been able to get everything on their gift wish lists, but this year we were also able to get each child several warm outfits, warm pajamas, a new winter coat, shoes, gloves, and blankets. For the past two years, we have also helped the school with shoe and glove drives for the other students. In 2015, we had the opportunity to visit the school and meet the students and staff. It was such a rewarding experience, and one that cemented our dedication to help them again in 2016. It is obvious how much the staff cares about their students, and they were so appreciative and kind. Working with them has been one of my favorite community service projects since joining Delta Private Jets.

Another favorite for me has been GO Pantry, a local organization that helps feed hungry children in Boone County schools near our headquarters in Northern Kentucky. During the school year, they receive free breakfast and lunch, but over weekends and breaks, many of them do not eat. GO Pantry packages donated food and sends it home with the kids to keep them nourished and healthy when they are not at school. This was the first time we had worked with them, and during our fall food drive, we were able to donate almost 5,000 food items. Not only did it create friendly competition among employees (the department who donated the most won a prize), it was such a good cause and I can’t wait to help them again.

In terms of helping our community, 2016 was a great year for Delta Private Jets, and we are looking forward to carrying that momentum into 2017. We will continue to work with the American Cancer Society, GO Pantry, and our local elementary school, and we look forward to adding other organizations in 2017, as well. The opportunity to help with community services projects like these is one of my favorite things about working at Delta Private Jets. Giving back to the community is so important, and I am grateful to be a part of it.
